‘Young Designer of the Year’ is a category of the ShowBoats Design Awards, organized by ShowBoats International. The prize, which recognizes the best superyacht proposals developed by student and trainee designers, goes to the winner of a competition to meet a realistic client request. It thus provides valuable practice and experience for a young designer. The jury expects far more than a styling exercise: a submission must represent a practical ‘outline design’ and promises a lifestyle appropriate for a superyacht. The design itself, given further technical and design development, should be feasible to build.
